New Commissions from Farnborough, Kent: Nigel Wade’s Latest Watercolours

I’m excited to share two new watercolour paintings I’ve recently completed—both special commissions from right here in my home town of Farnborough, Kent.

The first piece is a 20 x 16.5 cm painting of The Old Schoolhouse, a building with deep roots in the community. Though it was converted into flats some decades ago, its original purpose as a school is still evident in its structure and character. Capturing its architectural legacy in delicate washes and fine detail was a rewarding process, especially as it’s so close to home.

The second commission was delivered recently to its new owner, Ieuan of Ieuan James Barbers in Farnborough Village. This one presented a unique challenge: an evening scene lit by artificial light, no sky or water in sight, and just a hint of vegetation. It’s always refreshing to take on a piece that pushes a different part of my creative process—and it was a real pleasure painting a local business that’s become a staple in the village.

While these particular paintings aren’t available as prints, I do offer signed, limited edition prints of 28 other works on my website: www.nigelwadeart.com. I also have some limited availability for commissioned works over the next 12 months—whether landscapes, seascapes, or architectural subjects.

It’s always a privilege to create pieces rooted in the place I call home.
